Jon Hogarth's Story
Right… this might not be my smartest idea.
I’ve spent years smashing my body around rugby league pitches, knees taped, shoulders hanging on by a thread, and a back that sounds like a bowl of Rice Krispies every morning. So naturally… I thought signing up for a 100-mile bike ride was the logical next step.
On 6th September 2026, I’ll be taking on the Manchester 100 Mile Ride in support of The Soldiers League charity, which does serious work supporting wounded and injured service personnel.
Now, let’s be honest…This isn’t a sleek, lightweight cyclist story. This is:
But that’s kind of the point.
Because while I’m moaning about saddle pain and dodgy knees…there are people this charity supports who deal with challenges far bigger than a long day on a bike.
So this ride isn’t about times, stats, or looking like I belong in the Tour de France. It’s about showing up, putting in the work, and raising as much as possible for a cause that actually matters.
I’ll be sharing the journey, training, setbacks, probably a few rants, and hopefully dragging a few of you along for the ride (not literally… I’ve only got one bike).
If you can support, donate, or even just give me grief to keep me going, I’ll take it.
Let’s see if this battered rugby body can survive 100 miles.
